World Elder Abuse Awareness Day
On June 15, across the country, people come together to observe World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD). WEAAD is an opportunity to highlight the often silent suffering of the elder generation. The day was officially recognized by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2011, following a request by the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse. Due to this, communities around the world use this day to raise awareness of elder abuse and neglect, and to renew their commitment to preserving the rights of older adults. You can join us to make a difference and strengthen your community.
