We Step Into the Light

We are thrilled to announce details about the 4th Annual We Step Into the Light Art Exhibit. Registration is open now through February 7, 2025. We are actively seeking volunteer Artists and Muses. A Muse: anyone who has experienced sexual assault, relationship or gender-based violence, or stalking. Artist: any creative person willing to donate time and talent to create or collaborate with a Muse. Any art mediums are welcome.
For this event, artists are paired with survivors who act as a muse for the art created; a piece that will celebrate the survivor. The piece should focus on the ambition, goals and passions of the survivor rather than their assault. Through a series of interactions, the artist will be inspired by learning about the survivor and the piece will begin to take form. The finished pieces are then gifted to the survivor as a forever reminder of their participation, and more importantly, the beautiful meaningful life they lead. We hope to offer a reminder of the strength, beauty and power that we all possess, even in the darkest of times.
To provide newcomers with this experience, first-time Muses will be paired with Artists first. Return Muses are welcome and will be paired only after new Muses provided there are enough Artists to do so. *If you have participated as an Artist in previous years and want to be a Muse for the first time, you are considered a new Muse!*

The Art Exhibit will be held April 24, 2025 in the UW Center for Civil Engagement at UWSP at Wausau Campus. All Muses and Artist’s are invited to attend as is the community. More details to follow soon.
