DESCRIPTION:October Domestic Violence Awareness Month Events 2025\nSaturday\, October 4\, 2025\, 9am-11am; SafeFUR Homes: Family safety is important for everyone – including pets! We are kicking off DVAM with our annual SafeFUR Homes Event to raise awareness about the link between animal abuse and domestic abuse AND to raise funds to support the lifesaving services of The Women’s Community. This event will be held at Oak Island Park\, 500 River Road\, Wausau. \nSaturday October 4\, 2025\, 9pm-12am: Get Loud! Live Music Event: Join us for our 3rd annual Get Loud! event to raise awareness around the topic of domestic violence in our community. We are partnering with Intermission Bar here in Wausau to host a local band called Through Crimson. This event is a way for The Women’s Community to reach an alternative demographic of people through empowering music\, collective solidarity and a common goal to eradicate domestic violence in our community. We will be doing raffle baskets and a 50/50 raffle. We will also have advocates on site to help anyone in need\, give information\, and offer services and support. Any donations received will go to life saving services at The Women’s Community. This event will be held at Intermission Bar\, 325 N 4th St\, Wausau\, WI. \nWednesday\, October 8\, 2025\, 11am-1pm: The Clothesline Project and Messages of Hope: Clothesline Project and Messages of Hope\, 11am-1pm: The Clothesline Project is a visual display of resilience\, healing\, and hope for individuals and communities impacted by interpersonal violence and abuse. The Clothesline Project and Message of Hope will be displayed near the Union at UW-Stevens Point at Wausau\, 518 S 7th Ave.\, Wausau. \nWednesday\, October 15\, 2025\, 11am-1pm: Understanding Amish and Mennonite Culture & Unique Barriers for Domestic Violence Victims: A cultural awareness training designed for system and community professionals to gain knowledge and skills to relate effectively with Amish and Plain Mennonite communities.
