Although the assailant had been found guilty at trial\, the Supreme Court argued that because jeans are difficult to remove\, the assailant couldn’t have done so without the victim’s help. Sounds outrageous\, yet all over the world\, women and men who are victims of sexual assault continue to be disbelieved and accused of causing the assault due to their behavior… or fashion sense. Everyone is invited to wear denim and help raise funds and awareness as an individual or in your workplace. Donations in any amount can be made on our website. DESCRIPTION:The 3rd Annual We Step Into the Light Art Exhibit will be held on April 25\, 2024. Registration is open now through February 9\, 2024. We are actively seeking volunteer artists and muses.  A Muse:  anyone who has experienced sexual assault\, relationship or gender-based violence\, or stalking.  Artists:  anyone who likes to create and wants to support victims of violence.  We welcome art in any form – paint\, sketch\, photography\, poetry\, embroidery\, sculpture\, abstract\, songwriting. \nFor this event\, artists are paired with survivors who act as a muse for the art created; a piece that will celebrate the survivor. The piece should focus on the ambition\, goals\, and passions of the survivor rather than on their assault. Through a series of interactions\, the artist will be inspired by learning about the survivor and the piece will begin to take form. \nThe finished pieces are then gifted to the survivor as a forever reminder of their participation\, and more importantly\, the beautiful and meaningful life they lead. We hope to offer a reminder of the strength\, beauty and power that we all possess\, even in the darkest of times. \nI encourage you to reach out with inquiries about participation and know that muses may remain anonymous. Please share widely with your contacts and clients.  Clients are also invited to be artists should they wish to participate in that way also.  Youth are welcome to be muses or artists as well and will be paired.
