SUMMARY:Denim Day - Dollars for Denim Campaign
DESCRIPTION:Denim Day: A symbolic gesture –Denim Day is an international protest responding to the Italian Supreme Court’s overruling of a rape conviction in 1999. Although the assailant had been found guilty at trial\, their Supreme Court argued that because jeans are difficult to remove\, the assailant couldn’t have done so without the victim’s help. Sounds outrageous\, yet all over the world\, women and men who are victims of sexual assault continue to be disbelieved and accused of causing the assault due to their behavior… or fashion sense.\nEveryone is invited to wear denim and help raise funds and awareness as an individual or in your workplace.\nDonations in any amount can be made on our website: Donate\nPost a photo of yourself or your workplace group to your social media page and tag us on Instagram or Facebook.\n

SUMMARY:We Step Into the Light Art Exhibit Open House
DESCRIPTION:Be a part of the 5th Annual We Step into the Light Art project. We are seeking volunteer artists and muses. A muse is a thriver who has experienced sexual assault\, relationship or gender based violence\, or stalking and is willing to be a muse for an artist. An Artist: any creative person willing to donate time and talent to create or collaborate with a Muse. \nFor this event\, artists are paired with thrivers who act as a muse for the art created; a piece that will celebrate the thriver. The piece should focus on the ambition\, goals\, and passions of the thriver rather than on their assault. Through a series of interactions\, the artist will be inspired by learning about the thriver and the piece will begin to take form. \nThe finished pieces are then gifted to the thriver as a forever reminder of their participation\, and more importantly\, the beautiful and meaningful life they lead. We hope to offer a reminder of the strength\, beauty and power that we all possess\, even in the darkest of times. \nRegistration closes February 15. \nTo register:  https://westepintothelight.com/register

Although the assailant had been found guilty at trial\, the Supreme Court argued that because jeans are difficult to remove\, the assailant couldn’t have done so without the victim’s help. Sounds outrageous\, yet all over the world\, women and men who are victims of sexual assault continue to be disbelieved and accused of causing the assault due to their behavior… or fashion sense. Everyone is invited to wear denim and help raise funds and awareness as an individual or in your workplace. Donations in any amount can be made on our website. Denim Day 2025 Post a photo of yourself or your workplace group to your social media page and tag us on Instagram or Facebook. Denim Day Displays made by local survivors will be held at UWSP at Wausau Campus and NTC Campus from 11:00am-1:00pm. \n
