We broke ground on August 23, 2011. Your support is raising the bar for how victims of domestic and sexual violence are treated in our community. Thank you!

Sometimes victims of domestic abuse and their families need shelter as they
transition to a life without violence. They need to be kept safe, have their
privacy protected and have a place to call “home” while they piece together the
legal, employment, and child custody issues of their new life.
The current facility used by The Women’s Community houses 28 women and children
— all of whom have to share one bathroom, kitchen, and living room. The
facility is unable to meet the needs of people with disabilities, does not
provide private access, is not environmentally friendly and has a parking lot
that can be easily monitored by abusers. Worse, we typically receive more
requests for shelter than we have rooms available.
With your help, the new Women’s Community shelter will:
Provide a safe, secure haven for 40 adults and children
fleeing violent homes, with adequate numbers of bathrooms and common areas to
accommodate families.
Offer enough rooms to service the needs of the community,
including a room that could be utilized for someone with significant
disabilities who requires a visiting nurse.
Be fully accessible for clients with disabilities.
Have a private, secure, and safe parking lot for clients.
Provide private areas for the families to play.
Be a green facility.
Give shelter — donate or provide a gift in-kind now.
